First Look at the 2025 Ford Expedition

2025 Ford Expedition Platinum Ultimate

Ford Motor is elevating the refinement and technology of its large Expedition SUV as part of a redesign aimed at staying competitive in the evolving market.

The revamped three-row SUV showcases a more streamlined interior and exterior, along with enhanced comfort and convenience features, including a 24-inch driver display and the new BlueCruise hands-free highway driving system.

Trevor Scott, general manager of Ford Utilities, highlighted the extensive customer engagement, stating, “We spent over 1,100 hours speaking with customers about their everyday lives. With these insights, we've reimagined and redesigned the Expedition to help families make the most of their time together and simplify the driving experience—before, during, and after every trip.”

The 2025 Expedition is set to debut in dealerships this spring, starting at around $63,000, which includes destination charges. This price marks an increase of more than $5,000 compared to the 2024 model, yet it remains below the average transaction price of $70,000 for comparable vehicles.

2025 Ford Expedition Platinum Ultimate

The last redesign of the Ford Expedition occurred seven years ago, at a time when its primary competition came from General Motors' full-size SUVs, like the Chevrolet Tahoe, Chevrolet Suburban, and GMC Yukon.

While GM's models continue to dominate this segment, new contenders have emerged, including the Jeep Wagoneer from Stellantis and large three-row crossovers from Kia and Hyundai.

According to auto data firm Edmunds.com, three-row crossovers like the Kia Telluride and Hyundai Palisade—though smaller and more affordable than the current Expedition—are among the most frequently cross-shopped vehicles with full-size SUVs.

Edmunds also notes that the mainstream full-size SUV segment, which includes the Expedition, has grown to represent 2.7% of the U.S. market this year, an increase from 2% in 2017. As of September, segment sales reached approximately 312,500 units.

2025 Ford Expedition Tremor

For the 2025 Expedition, Ford has streamlined the model lineup to include Active, Platinum (with an "Ultimate" variant), King Ranch, and the newly introduced Tremor, which is designed for off-road enthusiasts and already features on other Ford vehicles.

The Expedition will still be offered in both standard and extended "Max" versions. It will be powered by a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine, with an option for a high-output variant delivering 440 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque.

VOLVO

  • Volvo will launch a new electric crossover called the EX60, with a debut planned for 2026.

  • The new car will debut Volvo's next-generation SPA3 module production architecture, which will be the company's most advanced yet.

  • Including the EX60 and upcoming ES90 electric sedan, Volvo is planning to launch five new electric vehicles by the end of the decade.

Volvo has plans to launch a new electric compact crossover called the EX60, which will slot into the lineup alongside the internal-combustion XC60 (shown below). The news came at a September 5 Volvo event in Gothenburg, Sweden, a day after the automaker showed the facelifted XC90 SUV and walked back previous ambitions for an EV-only lineup by 203o.

While the new EX90 SUV and the ES90 (which is set to debut in March 2025) both ride on the brand's current SPA2 production architecture, the EX60 will be Volvo's first product built on its next-generation SPA3 platform. The SPA3 architecture will be Volvo's most advanced yet and should help the brand build vehicles more cost-effectively.

This content is imported from Third party. You may be able to find the same content in another format, or you may be able to find more information, at their web site.

One of the defining features of the new architecture will be the structural battery packs, which Volvo executives said will reduce weight and cost. The newer battery packs are also set to feature more compact and energy-dense cells—allowing the car to store more energy in the same footprint. The company said it aims to achieve 93 percent efficiency with its next generation of electric motors, up from 85 percent in its first EVs and 91 percent now.

The new platform is designed to be completely modular—like an automotive Lego set that can be used to make every upcoming Volvo model. The company calls it a "Superset Tech Stack"; it's a standardized set of hardware, software, and production modules that can be interchangeably used throughout the lineup. Along with the modularity, the new platform will make use of megacasting to reduce the number of parts in each vehicle.

In the meantime, Volvo is joining other automakers in resetting electrification targets. CEO Jim Rowan says the company will still be ready with a variety of electric cars for customers and markets that are prepared to make the switch in the next few years, but will also offer hybrids for customers who aren't ready yet. "By 2030, we aim to be 90 to 100 percent electrified," CEO Jim Rowan said. Those figures include corded models, so plug-in-hybrid and battery-electric models count, but standard hybrids do not. "The path won't be linear, though," Rowan added, with some markets like the United States likely taking longer than others.

The 2024 Jeep Gladiator Mojave X

It's a legit truck

When Jeep revealed the Gladiator at the 2018 L.A. Auto Show, it was one of the most anticipated debuts the car industry has seen in years. There was palpable buzz. Right up until it was revealed, most expected Jeep to call its reborn truck the Scrambler. Nearly six years on, Gladiator was clearly the right choice. At the time, most thought the truck would be a Wrangler with a bed, but Jeep took great steps to make a legitimate midsize truck that is among the best in the segment with plenty of towing, hauling and storage capabilities.

There's pros and cons to that

From a format perspective, the truck has advantages and disadvantages over the Wrangler. If you need an SUV, well, obviously, the Wrangler is better. It’s shorter, which means it fits better in off-road situations and your garage. On the other hand, the Gladiator is longer with a longer wheelbase, which means it drives a little better and negates the Wrangler’s “I feel like I’m going to tip over feeling” that’s present in too many daily experiences.

The driving dynamics are enough to make me think I’d go with a Gladiator as a daily commuter toy, which the Wrangler is used for all too often. I’d opt for the roll-up tonneau cover, which also allows the Jeep truck to function with crossover capability. There's something to be said for the Mojave X's Fox shocks and 1-inch lift kit, which make this desert runner even cushier on road, too.

The ubiquitous Pentastar soldiers on

The Pentastar V6 is ubiquitous in Stellantis products, and it’s the default ICE option for the Wrangler and Gladiator. It soldiers on in Jeep’s off-roaders, providing a traditional driving experience with expected dynamics. It was under the hood of this Gladiator Mojave X, and I generally liked it. Teamed with the eight-speed automatic, it’s predictable if a bit laborious. The Pentastar is the one that feels the most like a Jeep engine in the lineage of the long-running 4.0-liter inline six, which had American Motors’ origins.

The Gladiator gets a 4xe version in 2025. I would strongly consider the 4xe with a home charger, if I were in the market.

Rough fuel economy, easy roof removal

The fuel economy is rough, to the tune of 17 mpg city / 22 highway, ranking near the bottom of the segment, though the Gladiator does offer a range of up to 418 miles. The large all-terrain tires and numb steering make for a pontoon-like dynamic. The visibility, thanks to the ride height, is actually pretty good.

Take the roof panels off, and it's a cathartic open-air experience. It’s also super easy. Just pull a couple of levers and lift off. So easy, in fact, my son pulled one off entirely on his own and deposited it in the living room to my surprise.

What’s next for the Gladiator?

Sales are down 24% through the first half of the year, falling farther than the Wrangler (17%) and the Jeep brand overall (19%). The 2024 refresh should help, offering tech and design upgrades and two new trims. The Gladiator ranks near the bottom of the Jeep sales charts, (10,489 units) ahead of only the Jeep Grand Wagoneer luxury SUV and far behind the Wrangler (38,896) and Grand Cherokee (52,296).

To me, that speaks to the Gladiator’s coolness and niche status, which are attributes. But, with volume that low, the Jeep truck does seem vulnerable. Plus, it’s pretty expensive. Conversely, it’s genetically similar to the Wrangler and they’re built in the same Toledo, Ohio, facility, so there’s a business case for keeping it around as the Wrangler’s sidekick. That’s not a bad spot. When cross-shopping midsize trucks, it's different from anything else in the segment. That's a great spot.

Stuck On The Side Of The Road - You're Not Alone

Emergency Roadside Kits - A Friend When You Need One

We've all been there before. You're driving along, minding your own business, when suddenly you get a flat tire. Or your engine starts making strange noises. Whatever the problem is, it's a pain - and it always seems to happen at the most inconvenient time.

That's where emergency roadside kits come in. A good roadside kit can help you get out of a bind, no matter what kind of trouble you find yourself in. Whether you're on a road trip or just driving to work, it's important to have all of the supplies you need in case of an emergency.

It's not just you who will benefit from an emergency roadside kit. if you ever have to help another driver who is stranded, you'll be glad you have a kit to lend them. They will appreciate the fact that you were prepared and able to help them in their time of need.

What should you include in your emergency roadside kit?

  • Flashlight, flares, and reflective triangles will help other motorists see your car

  • A first aid kit is an essential part of any emergency roadside kit. Be sure to include items such as bandages, gauze, antiseptic wipes, and pain relievers. Check for expiration dates on your supplies periodically.

  • Jumper cables. One of the best options is a self contained jump box that doesn't require another car. They typically contain charging cables for phones and other small electronics, too.

  • A tire inflator can help if you have a flat tire. You may also want to include a small can of fix-a-flat.

  • A quart of oil and a gallon of coolant will help if your car starts to overheat

  • Tools like a screwdriver, pliers, and a wrench will come in handy if you need to make minor repairs

  • A blanket. Although you would think this would only be necessary in the winter, a blanket can actually be helpful all year round. If you have a breakdown at night, the blanket will keep you warm until help arrives. Also hypothermia can set in quickly, even on a warm day.

  • Small umbrella. In case you get stranded in the rain, an umbrella will help keep you dry

Emergency roadside kits can be a lifesaver when you find yourself in an emergency on the road. They are perfect for any vehicle, whether it's your own car or someone else who needs help and is stranded by the side of the highway.

Every situation is different, so you'll need to use your best judgment when deciding what to include in your roadside kit. But these items are a good place to start. With a little bit of preparation, you'll be ready for whatever the road throws your way.

Got stuck on the side of the road one too many times? Well, you're certainly not alone. In fact, research shows that 1 in every 4 drivers will experience a car breakdown at some point this year.

Old Car Technology That's Now Considered Standard

Car Technology Advancements That Make Life Easier For Drivers

Are you old enough to remember when air conditioning and powered windows were optional car features? How about when you had to manually unlock your doors? If you are, then you've seen firsthand how far car technology has come in just a few decades.

Nowadays, we can't imagine owning a vehicle without them. In fact, new cars are loaded with all sorts of tech gadgets and creature comforts that make the driving experience more enjoyable. Here are just a few of the car tech advancements that have made life easier for drivers.

Automatic Climate Control

Curbside Classic

"Cadillac released Comfort Control, the world’s first fully automatic climate control system in 1964. This system is an amazing accomplishment and a reminder of how GM and Cadillac really once were the standard of the world"

If you wanted that type of luxury you had to pay a pretty penny for it. Nowadays, you can find automatic climate control in even the most basic of cars. This feature keeps the temperature at a preset level, so you don't have to adjust it every time the weather changes.

Cruise Control

Another oldie but goodie is Cruise Control. Great for long road trips when you don't want to wear your foot out by constantly pressing the gas pedal. It also helps you save on gas. Just set your desired speed and the car will maintain a consistent speed, as long as you keep your foot off the brake.

Wikipedia

"Modern cruise control (also known as a speedostat or tempomat) was invented in 1948 by the blind inventor and mechanical engineer Ralph Teetor.[4][5] He came up with the idea due to being frustrated by his driver's habit of speeding up and slowing down as he talked."

Heated and Cooled Seats

Another comfort feature that has become standard in many new cars are heated and cooled seats. This is a welcome addition for those who live in climates with extreme temperatures. Heated seats warm you up on cold days, while cooled seats keep you cool on hot days.

Backup Cameras

Did you know that backup cameras originated in 1956? Although backup cameras have been around for years they started to become more popular in the early 2000s.

Backup cameras are a lifesaver, literally. They help you avoid accidents by giving you a clear view of what's behind you when you're in reverse.

Wikipedia

"1956 Buick Centurion concept car, presented in January 1956 at the General Motors Motorama. The vehicle had a rear-mounted television camera that sent images to a TV screen in the dashboard in place of the rear-view mirror."

If you've ever tried to parallel park in a tight spot without one then you know what a pain it can be. a backup camera can be a lifesaver.

Tuesday, May 1st, 2018 - The Day Backup Cameras Became Standard

Car And Driver

"If you’re shopping for a new vehicle and it doesn’t have a backup camera or the feature costs extra, then it was built before Tuesday, May 1st, 2018. That’s when the safety device became standard on all vehicles made for the American market."

Although backup cameras have been around for years they started to become more popular in the early 2000s.

Keyless Entry and Start

Just like other car technology , keyless entry and start has been around for a while but it's only recently that it has become standard in new cars. This feature allows you to unlock and start your car without ever having to take your keys out of your pocket.

What Car Technology Is Next To Become A Standard Option?

Here are some other options that are starting to move their way from the luxury category into the mainstream. The average car buyer may not be able to afford all of these features right now, but eventually, they may become standard.

1. Automatic braking

2. Lane departure warning

3. Blind spot monitoring

4. Park assist systems

5. Adaptive cruise control

6. Heads-up displays

One of the most popular car technology trends is the inclusion of hands-free capabilities, such as Bluetooth and voice-activated controls. This allows drivers to keep their hands on the wheel and eyes on the road while still being able to control.

Do you have a car with outdated technology?

It might be time to trade it in. You deserve the latest technology in your car – and we can help make that happen. We have a huge selection of cars to choose from, and we’ll make sure the process is easy for you.

How to sell a car, what paperwork is required

How to sell a car, what paperwork is required?

In this video we will show you the proper paperwork required to sell and transfer a title. #coombsauto #sellyourcar #paperwork Don’t forget to subscribe!!

All the documents is here in the description section down below.

This information was provided by the Texas Department of Motor Vehicle.

Vehicles are required to be titled in the buyer’s name within 30 days from the date of sale. Failing to properly transfer a vehicle into the buyer's name could result in the seller being held responsible for tickets, toll violations or even crimes committed with the vehicle. To ensure this doesn't happen to you, accompany the buyer to your county tax office to ensure a vehicle title application is filed. A dealer is not required to title in the dealership’s name if you sell or trade-in your vehicle to a licensed motor vehicle dealer. The vehicle stays in your name until it is sold to an individual, which may take months or in some cases, years. To protect yourself, file a Vehicle Transfer Notification. Texas Motor Vehicle Transfer Notification (VTR-346) https://www.txdmv.gov/sites/default/f... When a vehicle transfer notification is received, TxDMV updates the motor vehicle record to show the vehicle as sold. When you file the notification within 30 days from the date of sale, you cannot be held responsible for parking tickets and toll violations that have been committed by the person who purchased the vehicle. If you submit a Vehicle Transfer Notification and are still receiving parking tickets and/or tolls, you may contact the department for a confirmation email or submit a Request for Texas Motor Vehicle Information (Form VTR-275), that shows the month and year the vehicle was transferred. Provide the buyer with the following: * A properly signed title, including the date of sale and odometer reading * Signed Application for Texas Title and/or Registration (Form 130-U) with the sales price clearly shown. https://www.txdmv.gov/sites/default/f.... A seller should keep detailed written records of any transaction, including contact information for the buyer, the date of sale and information on the vehicle, including the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). The seller has the option to remove their license plates and registration sticker from the vehicle. There are three options for removed license plates: * The seller may transfer their license plates to a vehicle to be purchased, if the vehicle classification is the same. * The seller may keep their license plates for future transfer to another vehicle, but the registration sticker is not transferred. * If the seller does not transfer or keep their license plates, the license plates must be disposed of by defacing the front of the plates, either with permanent black ink or another method in order to prevent fraudulent use.
